Huawei K3520 USB Modem

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT ANY UNLOCK PROCESS

For Windows XP or Vista OS, follow the Unlocking Instructions (A).

For Mac OS X, follow the Unlocking Instructions (B).

(A)   UNLOCKING  INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS XP AND VISTA OS

This procedure removes the Vodafone SIM lock restriction on the Huawei K3520 USB Modem so that the device can be used with any network SIM card.

1. Take note of the unlocking code shown above.

2. Download the Huawei CardLock_Unlock.exe program file from the following URL   and save it to your computer.

 

https://www.vodafone.com.au/prepaidmobilebroadbandunlock

3. Insert a non-Vodafone SIM card (optional) in the device and plug the device to your computer.

4. Double-click (or run) the CardLock_Unlock.exe program file.

5. Enter the unlocking code given above and press the OK button.

6. The device  will be unlocked automatically and will display "Unlock successful!". This device can now be used with a non-Vodafone SIM Card.

Note: You cannot use a non-Vodafone SIM card with the Vodafone Mobile Connect software. You must use other Connection Manager software or  the Windows Dial-Up Networking application program to connect to other wireless broadband network.

 

WARNING: If a wrong unlocking code is entered, it will display "Unlock failed:…" and the number of unlocking attempts left before the device will be permanently block.

If the unlocking code is entered incorrectly ten (10) times, the device will display "Unlock failed:…datacard had been locked forever". The device will be permanently blocked and can no longer be unlock. However, it will only continue to work with a Vodafone Australia SIM card.

(B) UNLOCKING  INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAC OS X

This procedure removes the Vodafone SIM lock restriction on the Huawei K3520 USB Modem so that the device can be used with any network SIM card.

1. Take note of the unlocking code shown above.

2. Insert a non-Vodafone SIM card (optional) in the device and plug the device to your computer.

3. Wait until the device turns on (e.g. pilot light flashing).

4. In your Mac computer, go to Applications > Utilities and open the Terminal program.

5. On the Terminal screen, type the following command:

 ls▲/dev/cu*               [– symbolizes a blank space]

6. Verify that the Huawei modem device is listed in the Dev file directory.

    It should  appear as /dev/cu.ModemName.

 

For example:  /dev/cu.HUAWEIMobile-Modem

If the modem is not listed, make sure that the device is connected properly.

 

7. Type the following command then press Enter:

 

 screen▲/dev/cu.HUAWEIMobile-Modem 115200     [– symbolizes a blank space]

 

8. The Terminal shell should change to Screen mode. Type ATE1 then press Enter.

This will enable echo mode on the Terminal screen and verify that the Terminal is talking to the Modem, if it displays OK.

 

9. Type AT^CARDLOCK="unlocking code", then press Enter. The unlocking code can be 6-8 digits shown above. (For example: AT^CARDLOCK="1234567")

10. The device  will be unlocked automatically and will display "OK". This device can now be used with a non-Vodafone SIM Card.

11. Make sure you quit the Terminal Screen mode by typing Ctrl-A or ^A, e.g. hold the Control-key and type letter A at the same time, then followed by Ctrl-\ or ^\, e.g. hold the Control-key and type \ (back-slash) at the same time. Type "y" to exit.

Note: You cannot use a non-Vodafone SIM card with the Vodafone Mobile Connect software. You must use other Connection Manager software program to connect to other wireless broadband network.

If the unlocking code is entered incorrectly ten (10) times, the device will be permanently blocked and can no longer be unlock. However, it will continue to work with a Vodafone Australia SIM card.
